Welcome to our Homepage.
Simsar Stud is a new stud which my partner Simon and I started in (2007), I started breeding horses in 1997/98 a few years ago now and they have all been ID/TB's. Previous to that I have had my fair share of horses/ponies, some good and some bad and some I would sooner forget. Simon has had an interest and worked with horses for many years mainly Polo, he has a great knowledge about the equine and should really have been a vet, but he is loving his new venture in breeding and long may it continue. We have bred and bought some lovely foals between us in the last three years and this is our story. Now we are lucky enough to be able to set up a small stud in Surrey with thanks to family, friends, and with a few blags along the way.
It all started in 1997 when I decided to breed a hunter for myself. The first horse I bred was named Pilot, who is by a friend's stallion Just Tyson IDSH, out of a mare called My Suzi Girl TB. I decided to show him in Hunter Breeding classes and competed very successfully at County level for two years, all around the country.
As a yearling, Pilot qualified and then won at R.I.H.S as a hunter in hand. He went on to do well as a two year old, qualifying and being placed fourth at R.I.H.S. he was clearly a show horse and not an everyday hunter, so I sold him on so that he could be produced to achieve this and, lo and be hold, he went on to qualify for H.O.Y.S on two occasions and came 3rd in 2005. After Pilot the breeding bug kicked in and soon after came Disko Bay.
I have also been very lucky in owning/loaning some lovely horses too, all ID's or ID/TB'S. The Nev being the favourite by far, the best hunter anyone could ever wish for we had some great times. He was bought over from Ireland for The Surrey Union Hunt by my close friend Ginge, and then after his hunt service, through no fault of his own, I bought him. He has Clover hill lines, and he now hunts in the New Forest. Abbey Flash bless him no longer with us. He was great but a complete nut case, but we also had some fun and usually quite fast fun! Southern Lad (Charlie) he was a great horse but I had to give him back when I fell pregnant with my son Max.
Those are the important ones but their has been many more!
TO THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE
It was Simon's idea to start up again and i'm so glad he did, If you haven't bred a horse before try it!
We have been lucky enough to purchase two stunning Irish draught colts this year (2007) and a beautifully bred thoroughbred filly (by Green Horizon, who is by Green Desert) and a TB broodmare by Soviet Star, which we bought from the Equine Fertility Unit in Newmarket before its closure earlier this year. They are our future breeding stock so watch this space!
LONG MAY IT LAST
