Welcome to Simsar Stud

We are a fairly new stud breeding Irish Draught pure and partbreds.   Simon and myself thought long and hard about our new venture and along the way we have had many ups and downs but nothing has deterred us from carrying on with our passion of breeding pure and partbred Irish Draught horses.  We have met and spoken to some wonderful people and all of them very knowledgeable.  All of these people have been very supportive and we have a lot to thank them for.  Previous to the breeding was a fair share of owning/loaning horses/ponies, some good some bad and some we would sooner forget.  Fond memories of all if the truth be known. The breeding bug started a few years ago now 1997/98.   The horse that started the bug was Pilot in 1997, who is by a friend's stallion Just Tyson ISH, out of My Suzi Girl TB.  Pilot was shown in Hunter Breeding classes and competed very successfully at County level for several years, all around the country. As a yearling, Pilot qualified and won at  RIHS. He went on to do well as a two year old, qualifying and being placed fourth at  RIHS. he was clearly a show horse and not an everyday hunter like I first thought.  Who ever thought in the future he would go on to do great things.  Lo and behold he went on to qualify for HOYS on two occasions and came 3rd in 2005. After Pilot the breeding bug kicked in and soon after came Disko Bay (Joss) Who is now competing in Dressage and has also been hunting with The Berkeley. THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE A NEW BEGINNING Simon and myself have been very lucky to date, we have bought and bred some lovely foals and have some super foundation stock, the foals that we have bred so far have gone into showing, dressage and polo, all are competing at a good level and have been very trainable, with excellent movement and good conformation.   Our original broodmare list comprised of a mix of ex polo mares, TB mares off the track and hunter mares.  We are now lucky enough to add the following mares to our foundation stock, Two 2* advanced event mares from Meike Weber who evented both mares Internationally.  A Hornby Premium RID broodmare.  We also have breeding loan mares that consist of a RID and an ISH.     We have been lucky enough to be able to set up a small private stud in Surrey with thanks to family, friends, and with a few blags along the way.
